CHAL Awards

Awards

CHAL has instigated 3 different awards to recognize different types of service within and to ACS. Nominations for the 3 awards are made by CHAL’s subcommittee on Awards and Nominations, in conjunction with the CHAL Executive Committee. If you would like to serve on the subcommittee, or have a suggested nomination, please send an e-mail to chemistryandthelaw@gmail.com CHAL has also submitted nominations for ACS Fellow, each year. See the CHAL Fellows page (link to this) for further details. Additionally, CHAL consults with the ACS Governance Committee on Intellectual Property (insert a link) to discuss possible nominations for awards outside of ACS.

Roger D. Middlekauf Award

The Middlekauf award is offered to a Division Member who has given outstanding contributions and service to the division.

Howard and Sally Peters Award for Non-Traditional Careers in Chemistry

The Peters award is offered periodically to an ACS member (or members) who has pursued a non-traditional career in chemistry, and has contributed time and energy to ACS.

Justice Pauline Newman Award

The Newman award has only ever been given once, to date, and is reserved for exceptional members of the profession.
